What makes me tick...or ticks me off!

Or as I like to say

...things that make me go hmmmm.

Well, there are many things I enjoy. Computers (duh!), motorcycles, volleyball, cats, cars, bowling, skydiving, talking for hours on the phone with friends, nightclubbing, dancing (especially DISCO!)

Let's look at them one at a time:

COMPUTERS -- The greatest thing to hit the earth since peanut butter on toast. I make a decent part time living using my computer as a web designer. Hopefully the New Year will bring us more clients, and I can work at home full time alongside my wife, Chimera. Currently we have a Pentium 100 with 40 megs of RAM, 14 GIGS of storage, CD-ROM and a decent monitor. While not in a hurry to upgrade, I can see it coming. When the neighbor kids next door have a more powerful computer than I do, it's time to upgrade!

MOTORCYCLES -- I have been riding motorcycles off and on since I was 14. When I was 16, I hit an oil slick at 60 MPH (100 KPH) and spent four months in the hospital. The doctors said I would never walk right again. A year later I was in Special Forces. Guess I proved them wrong! Over the years since then I have had several bikes. My current "sikkle" is a 1983 Honda XL600R Dual Sport with less than 6,000 miles on it. It will do 90 MPH if necessary. It is great for riding to and from work, or getting out and dune jumping. I will have some pictures shortly of me on it.

CATS -- Simply put, I could not imagine a life without these little furry balls of love! I have had several over the years. At one point I had 17 of the little buggers at once! Each one has brought a sparkle into my life when I needed an uplift. Currently we have three, and they are shown here. (This link will pop up in a new window) Chimera would like to get about five more. Not until we get more room, honey!

VOLLEYBALL -- Although I haven't played in a couple of years, I am always open for trying to get into a game. Chimera and I used to play in the Chicago Park District. She is my setter, and I am her outside hitter. We are B +/A- level players, and can play both hardcourt and sand. Since we live in Florida now, this may be the year we start playing again.

SKYDIVING -- The sport of Kings...either that or the really insane. Basically, this involves propelling yourself voluntarily from a perfectly good airplane while it is in flight. Each year, several people die while skydiving. So why do we do it? Because it is the closest that man will ever come to flight without growing wings. I started in the military. I kept it up until I injured my back   in 1994. My logbook has over 1,000 jumps, and I was certified as an instructor. I have jumped from as high as 30,000 feet and as low as 1,500. Due to the back injury (not from skydiving) I can no longer get medical clearance to do this sport. Life goes on.

DANCING -- Another one of my loves in life is Disco Dancing. Now I know that Disco went out years ago, but thanks to the retro craze, I can still enjoy this. My favorite tune to dance to is "Born to Be Alive" by Patrick Hernandez. Click here to get a MIDI copy of the song.

So now you have an idea what makes me go hmmmm. Chimera and I, due to medical reasons, are childless. So we substitute other activities for child rearing, and always enjoy the neighbor kids. We live behind a child care center, and they are some of the cutest little guys and gals you will ever see.

Now for what ticks me off:

WARNING: These are my opinions. They are not for everybody. If you don't agree with me then the best thing you can do is leave the page. I will not try to change your mind. Please don't try to change mine.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE -- In my opinion, there is NO reason for a guy to hit a woman, or vice versa.

SERIAL KILLERS --  who overextend their stay in life. My opinion is 1 appeal, and if turned down, good night. I also believe it should be applied equally, with regard to race sex etc.

CHILD ABUSERS & MOLESTERS -- Need I say more?

INEQUALITY BETWEEN THE SEXES -- This one REALLY PISSES ME OFF! Women are restrained by society into being the homemaker, caregiver, nicey nice little woman while the big hunter warrior male goes out and earns the living. If she has a job, she is NOT respected for her abilities, but rather her looks, or how "cute" she is. This is BULLSHIT! If a woman has the talent, let her do the job! Guys, it's time we woke up!  Gals, the other end of the stick is that you may have to serve in the military and in combat. EQUAL=EQUAL NO EXCEPTIONS!

ANIMAL BREEDING "MILLS" -- The conditions you find in these places is abhorrent. If you care about animals, adopt your next pet from a pound.

THE ABORTION CONTROVERSY --  While I don't follow the belief that a woman should use abortion for birth control, it is her body. If a woman wants an abortion, who are we to say NO? Until everyone is psychic and can get in another person's head, we will never know the reasons for a woman choosing abortion.

RACIAL PREJUDICE --  There is no place in modern society for this. Until we lose this thinking, we will always be shackled by our past.

THE AMERICAN MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM -- Needs a complete overhaul.

INSURANCE COMPANIES -- Money Mongers who have become too powerful.

"Hanoi" Jane Fonda -- As a veteran, I cannot believe that anyone can possibly think of honoring this woman as one of the Top 100 Women of the 20th Century. All vets and their loved ones should write Congress about this. She did more to destroy morale in Vietnam than the Cong ever did. `Nuff said!

That's about it for now. Thanks for looking at my pages.
